Internecine strife between two Cross River State communities, Nko in Yakurr LGA and Onyadama in Abi federal LGA has thrown up no fewer than 10,000 refugees internally displaced.
This was disclosed by the paramount ruler of Yakurr LGA and Obol Lopon of Ugep, HRM Obol Ofem Ubana.
He said most of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who fled mostly from Nko, which is a community next to Ugep, flooded his palace in Ugep in the past five days, when platoons of soldiers were deployed from Edor Barrack in Ikom to quell the war.
He said with his private resources, he was able to move a good number of the IDPs to a primary school nearby and has been feeding them.
“The Ugep community is bearing the brunt of the influx of internally displaced people from Nko into Ugep.
“More than 10,000 internally displaced people from Nko are in Ugep.
He appealed to humanitarian agencies and International NGOs to come to the help of the hapless IDPs.
