Former secretary to the Government of the Nigerian Federation, under President Goodluck Jonathan, Anyim Pius Anyim, is facing interrogation by EFCC, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, in connection with missing funds allegedly spent under the aviation ministry.
It was learnt that the EFCC took Anyim in, on Sunday, because some of the missing funds were traced to the account of a company where he sits as a director.
N780 million is said to be the component of the stolen aviation ministry’s fund traced to Anyim.
It is not confirmed whether Anyim, who was still in custody as at late Sunday night, was detained till Monday.
Stella Oduah, former aviation minister and serving senator and the main lead to Anyim’s interrogation, was named in the Pandora Papers as one of 10 Nigerians hiding their wealth in tax havens.
The EFCC is said to be conducting a probe of the financial dealings of Stella Oduah, and other Nigerians who were indicted in the report.
A source said, “Anyim’s invitation and interrogation is in connection with a case of money laundering involving a former aviation minister and serving senator, Senator Stella Oduah.”
