AsoVilla 2023: Exorbitant nomination forms, a strategy to contain Nigerian youths, says Obasanjo; disparages, Atiku, Saraki, Tambuwal, others

Fmr. Nigerian Leader Olusegun Obasanjo: Nigeria’s former leader and pan-Nigerian, Olusegun Obasanjo has counselled Nigerians against supporting any presidential aspirants who claim that persons or groups of persons paid for their nomination forms.

Nigeria’s former leader and pan-Nigerian, Olusegun Obasanjo has counselled Nigerians against supporting any presidential aspirants who claim that persons (or groups of persons) paid for their nomination forms.

It is notable that the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi and other aspirants fall into this category of political gladiators.

Speaking during a colloquium to mark the 61st birthday of Pastor Itua Ighodalo in Lagos, Chief Obasanjo said the aspirants lied to Nigerians and should not be voted in the forthcoming presidential election.

Obasanjo who frowned at the high cost of nomination forms at N40 million, argued that the high price competent against Nigerian youths, who would ordinarily qualify for the office of president.

He said, “Today, they are paying N40m. Some of them (aspirants) even said it is some youths who bought it for them.

“In fact, anybody who would come out to tell you such a lie, you shouldn’t vote for him. Which youths gathered N40m? If you want to buy it, buy it and tell us. You don’t need to lie to us.”
