Obi, in a reaction on Twitter on Friday night, said that the purpose of elections is defeated when the people are denied their choices.

But Baba-Ahmed, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, argued that the APC failed to meet the requirements of Section 134 (2)(a) and (b) of the Nigerian constitution for election into the office of the President.

Obi and LP said INEC violated its own regulations when it announced the result despite the fact that at the time of the announcement, the totality of the polling unit results had yet to be fully scanned, uploaded and transmitted electronically as required by the Electoral Act.

He said, “We cannot have a president-elect when there has been a constitutional breach. There’s a clear interpretation of Section 134 and INEC’s interpretation of Section 134.

There has been wide condemnation of actions of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, and and Chairman of Lagos State Parks Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo, who were caught on video directing hate speeches at particular group of electorates, before the last gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

Obi, who campaigned as an outsider, galvanised many young and first-time voters but came third in the election, behind winner Bola Tinubu from the ruling All Progressives Congress party and main opposition People’s Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar.
