At least 50 people have been killed while many were kidnapped when terrorists launched attacks in nine communities in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, northwest of Nigeria.
The Public Relations of the Nigeria Police in Kaduna State, ASP Mohammed Jalinge, confirmed the attacks.
He could not, however, confirm the deaths, as official compilation of deaths and other casualties was still ongoing.
ASP Jalingo said: “We’re still waiting for the full details of the incident from the Divisional Police Officer, Giwa and the Area Commander Zaria.”
A member of the Vigilante Group in Dillalai area, Mansur Ibrahim, confided in Daily Trust Newspaper that a church building was burnt, houses were burnt and about 100 cows were stolen during the attacks.
He mentioned that Dillalai village was the worst hit by the attack where about 15 persons were dead.
“The terrorists also burnt a church at Zangon Tama village, all in Giwa local government area,” he added.
