A terror attack was reported on Monday on an Abuja-Kaduna bound train, successfully breaking off the rail track and demobilizing the train at a point between Katari and Rijana.
Explosives are suspected to have been used by the terrorists in the attack.
Shehu Sani, a former senator that represented Kaduna Central District, said villagers around the area confirmed the attack.
“Villagers along Abuja-Kaduna road called to confirm hearing multiple gunshots and attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train by terrorists,” Sani wrote on Twitter.
Also, the Kaduna State Government has confirmed the terrorists’ attack on the passenger train bound for the State.

In a statement which he issued to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said the military rescued the Kaduna-bound train passengers trapped by terrorists on Monday night.
Aruwan said the government received multiple reports of an attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train service around Kateri-Rijana area.
Aruwan said efforts were ongoing to move injured passengers to hospitals for medical attention.
Gunmen believed to be terrorists had detonated a bomb on the rail track of the Abuja-Kaduna train and successfully immobilized it at a point between Katari and Rijana.
